Line 3 monitoring no longer receives data

Since last night’s power cut, the line 3 monitoring workstation no longer shows the machine counters. The line is running. The night shift restarted the workstation with no effect. The shop-floor manager needs the figures for the 2 pm shift handover.

PROPOSED RESPONSE

01

Initial assessment

Incident on a production workstation: the line is running, data collection is interrupted. The power cut is a lead; the cause is not established.

02

Suggested checks

Check the link between the workstation and the PLCs, the state of the shop-floor network equipment after the power cut and the workstation’s system clock. Change nothing on the PLCs without the maintenance team.

03

Reply to the user

“Production is not affected; we are checking the link with the machines. Please do not restart any other equipment on the line in the meantime.”

Check before taking action.

Coordinate with maintenance and production before any intervention: on a shop-floor network, a restart or an update can stop a line.
